Real Valladolid thrash Albacete 5-0, ending a 10-year LaLiga drought
The 5-0 at Zorrilla on Monday is the club’s first LaLiga win by five goals since 2016/17.
Real Valladolid broke a long LaLiga drought by beating Albacete 5-0 at Zorrilla on Monday, ten years after the club last delivered a five-goal win in the league. As MARCA notes, the last time they won LaLiga by that margin was back in the 2016/2017 season.
Zorrilla erupts
That previous 5-0 came on December 11, 2016, when Paco Herrera was in charge. Valladolid beat Mirandés by five goals: Jose Arnaiz and Juan Villar scored before halftime, while Jaime Mata completed a brace and Raúl de Tomás added the fifth after the break.
A throwback to 2014/15
To match the kind of first-half dominance seen last matchday, you have to go further to 2014/2015. On December 21, 2014, under Rubi, Valladolid reached halftime with a 4-0 lead that eventually turned into a 7-0 win over Barcelona Atlètic.
