Real Zaragoza vs CD Teruel: Aragón derby on Primera RFEF matchday 6

Matchday six pits Ibai Gómez against Kiko Ramírez as Zaragoza aim to keep momentum and Teruel try to snap a tough start.

Real Zaragoza and CD Teruel meet this Sunday on matchday six of Primera RFEF, in an Aragón derby loaded with history: their last official meeting dates back to 1985, when Zaragoza advanced in the Copa del Rey with emphatic scores (1-5 and 3-0). In the build-up, Ibai Gómez accepted the challenge despite being considered the favorites: “the match will be very difficult.”

Zaragoza’s coach framed the moment with the same blunt message: “We haven’t done anything yet,” and with a clearer roadmap following the idea of rebuilding after the drop. For Teruel, Kiko Ramírez admitted the odds are against them—“we’re up against a superior team”—but insisted the outcome is still undecided: “the match still has to be played.”

Teruel come into it in their third straight season in the division and with a rough start: just 2 points, with losses to Murcia, Jaén and Rayo Majadahonda. They did, however, look good in two draws against Real Madrid Castilla and SD Huesca, and Ramírez pointed to the stadium as motivation: “It’s a tough venue, but it’s the best of scenarios,” according to Mundo Deportivo.
