Richarlison sidelined at Tottenham: De Zerbi hits back ahead of Coventry
De Zerbi responds in a press conference before Tottenham-Coventry, pointing to the club’s executives about Richarlison’s situation.
Richarlison (Tottenham) is in the spotlight after Roberto De Zerbi made it clear he isn’t counting on him following what the Brazilian had posted online. The Italian coach, ahead of Monday’s Premier League game vs Coventry, told reporters the issue isn’t on him.
In his press conference, De Zerbi said: “Ce n'est plus mon problème. Il faut poser la question à Vinai […] et à Johan […]”. He added that as a coach he has to accept pressure and take responsibility “even if it isn’t my fault,” insisting that if Richarlison wants to talk about him, he knows where to find him.
Richarlison started Tottenham’s opening match, a 3-0 loss at Brentford, but has since been sent away. Despite offers to leave, he was left out of the Premier League squad list of 25 players and has been playing with the U21s. He recently appeared in the Jersey Mike’s Trophy: he scored in a 2-2 draw vs Cheltenham Town, converted a penalty, but the shootout was lost 7-6. Still, the article notes he has remained professional with photos and autographs for supporters.
