Rubén Albés stays on at Leganés despite four losses in five
Leganés stick with their coach after four defeats in the last five matches, with 11 conceded and only three scored.
Leganés have decided to keep Rubén Albés in charge despite the slump: the team has suffered four defeats in their last five games, conceding 11 goals and scoring only three. As MARCA reports, the Galician coach will lead the next two matches at Butarque, where the club hopes to reverse the trend.
Albés spoke about the mental side following another heavy loss: "There’s emotional fragility and a lot of weight from the past that we have to remove." He also said that "things happen to this team" after the defeat at Almería, which has increased criticism toward a squad built to challenge near the top.
On the bench, since the relegation in June 2025, five coaches have rotated: Borja Jiménez, Paco López, Igor Oca, Carlos Martínez and Albés himself. With Leganés currently closer to relegation than the play-offs, the club’s choice is continuity ahead of the next test.
