Salma Paralluelo’s Lyon go blank as Chelsea hold them 0-0

Lyon, coached by Jonatan Giráldez, drew 0-0 with Chelsea at the Groupama Stadium in the Champions League’s second matchday. It’s the oddity of the night: for the first time this season, they managed neither a goal nor a win.

The result clashes with their explosive start. The French side arrived with a perfect record and 30 goals in just four games, but they were kept off the scoresheet. Melchie Dumornay, who had eight goals in five matches, tried everything to find a way through, without success.

After the game, the Haitian forward said: “This regret we feel tonight for not being able to put a ball in the back of the net... We have to keep working to be stronger.” Giráldez added that the team tried to win—“we had chances”—but the match intensity didn’t allow them to arrive with enough freshness near the opponent’s box.
