Samu Rodríguez wants the Oviedo to bounce back vs Eibar

The Real Oviedo winger reviews his early months and sets his sights on Monday’s match: recovering the level shown against Sporting.

Samu Rodríguez, of Real Oviedo, talks to MARCA about his first months as an Oviedo player and the approach for Monday’s game vs Eibar, after the team’s showing against Sporting. The winger says he’s “very happy” since arriving and points to what convinced him: “Al final, no puedes decirle que no al Oviedo.”

He also explains what Julián Calero asks for: solidity at the back. Samu adds that he’s improving defensively and cites match-ups with tough players in the division such as David González and Guille Rosas. He then looks back on his first Asturian derby at the Carlos Tartiere, describing it as “incredible” for the atmosphere and stressing that they “didn’t concede hardly anything.”

Home and away

Samu contrasts the pressure at home with the different demands on the road. He highlights that, since his arrival, the team kept clean sheets at Albacete and Valladolid, while acknowledging mistakes individually in Elda and a poor start in Sabadell. Ahead of the clash with the leader, he notes that Eibar arrive on seven consecutive wins, but insists they’re not scared—expecting 20,000 supporters to help them recover their best feelings and win.
