Sergio Ramos is a Getafe target: talks with his team

Getafe president Ángel Torres confirms contacts with René Ramos, but says the move isn’t urgent due to six centre-backs.

Getafe are still open to a possible signing of Sergio Ramos, after president Ángel Torres confirmed talks with René Ramos (his brother and representative). Torres said this Sunday on RNE’s Tablero Deportivo, stressing it’s not a priority right now because the squad already has cover in the position: “We have six centre-backs.”

The Getafe boss explained that coach José Bordalás’ needs are focused on reinforcements for the wings, while the central role is sufficiently covered. Even so, he left the door ajar, insisting Ramos remains on the club’s list of potential targets.

Torres also indicated the idea could resurface in January depending on sporting requirements, rather than as an immediate move.

The 40-year-old Sergio Ramos has been without a club since leaving Monterrey at the end of 2025. His last official match was on December 6, when they lost 3-2 to Toluca in the Apertura semi-finals. If he joins Getafe, it would mean reuniting with Dani Carvajal, who was signed by the club through June 30, 2027.
