Sevilla demands a red card after Arda Güler’s foul at the Bernabéu

Sevilla went into the break 2-0 down at the Bernabéu; after Arda Güler’s incident with Peque, they protested that it should’ve been a sending-off.

Sevilla left the Bernabéu break trailing 2-0 against Real Madrid with controversy: the club asked for a severe punishment, even a red card, over a codazo from Arda Güler on Peque that, according to their account, wasn’t booked and wasn’t reviewed.

Kike Salas, speaking to Movistar at half-time, was emphatic: “That action is a punch that looks like a clear sending-off… Peque says he’s hit him with it and he doesn’t go down… now I’ll look at it—he hasn’t even intervened to check.” Earlier, Sevilla posted on X: “Clear codazo by Güler on Peque, ending with yellow cards for Huijsen and Félix.”

On the pitch, the second goal came when Kylian Mbappé scored in the 36th minute. Sevilla also complained about a possible foul in the build-up to Robbie Ure for their second, a decision that neither stood overturned nor was reviewed. Juan Iglesias summed it up: “Peque’s action is an aggression… we saw it at half-time”.
