Sevilla lose 4-1 at the Bernabéu as their away unbeaten run ends

Real Madrid-Sevilla finishes 4-1 amid VAR controversy, with Luis García Plaza pointing to how the match shifted from 0-0.

Sevilla were beaten 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu, ending their unbeaten record away from home in a match overshadowed by controversial refereeing calls. As MARCA notes, VAR did not review a couple of defining incidents involving Cuadra Fernández and the VOR team, with two moments where Busquets Ferrer was not corrected.

In the 20th minute, Peque grabbed Güler and the Turkish winger struck him with an elbow to the face while there was no ball involved; the VAR review never came. Later, Mbappé’s 2-0 was preceded by a foul by Konaté on Robbie Ure, again without a check, and in the second half Castrín’s penalty on the French striker further fueled the argument.

After the match, Juan Iglesias said: "Sabíamos a lo que veníamos". Tactically, Sevilla’s midfield and defensive timing slipped, allowing Real Madrid to create space and control the flow once the game turned.
