Sevilla targets recovery for Salas, Vargas and Stassin during break
MARCA says Sevilla’s coaching staff wants to clear the infirmary in three weeks, with progress expected for Kike Salas, Rubén Vargas and Stassin.
The international break comes at just the right time for Sevilla—not only for the training schedule. As MARCA reports, Luis García Plaza has set a clear priority for the next three weeks: to empty the treatment room and arrive in shape for an October that looks especially demanding.
Three weeks to decide
The first positive comes with Kike Salas. The academy player missed the game against Barcelona out of caution after lingering from the contusion he suffered versus Deportivo. With no major injury, he has begun the week doing specific work separately, while the expectation is that he can rejoin the group without issues in the coming days, per MARCA.
More tight is the return of Lucas Stassin. After the match at Riazor, Sevilla communicated a myofascial injury in the long adductor of his right leg. García Plaza explained, as quoted by MARCA, that the situation is “at the limit” for him to be ready for the game against Levante, because the discomfort started once Stassin cooled down after the incident.
Rubén Vargas’ key case
Another major focus is Rubén Vargas. The international has been dealing with physical problems since last season and, according to MARCA, even traveled to Madrid for an assessment of his knee. Despite the setbacks, the club believes this break can mark a turning point in his full recovery. García Plaza’s message was that the information they’re receiving is positive, that he will work through a mini pre-season during the pause, and that—hopefully—he can be available when the team returns.
Meanwhile, Sevilla will handle Marcao with more caution. After a serious injury mid-way through last campaign and a subsequent muscular edema, García Plaza said there’s no rush: the centre-back needs two or three more weeks of training to take part.
