Simeone celebrates Atlético’s win at Mendizorroza and backs Julián
Atlético boss Simeone said his side managed the game well and that Julián finished “in good conditions” after the win in Vitoria.
Diego Pablo Simeone, Atlético de Madrid coach, left Mendizorroza very happy after his team’s win in LaLiga EA Sports this Saturday against Deportivo Alavés. Simeone said the venue “costs us an awful lot” and pointed to a penalty just before halftime, which he felt shaped the start of the second half.
He also credited his side for looking the better team with eleven players and for pushing in every way when Alavés went down to ten. Simeone highlighted the goal moments he had been aiming for, and the way they tried to generate chances based on what they saw from the opponent, managing the match between “Jonathan and Julián”.
On Julián’s status after a challenge during the game, the coach said: “He finished the match in good conditions”. He added that physical play and the referee’s focus around it are always a constant, noting that there will always be fouls and contact.
