Sporting: Mareo fills up for the derby and aims to end the 25-year wait

The Sporting Gijón fans bade the squad farewell in Mareo before the Asturian derby, with over 1,500 supporters and the drive to end 25 years without winning at the Tartiere. “Es el momento de poner fin a la sequía de 25 años sin ganar el Tartiere. Estoy convencido de que ganaremos”, said a fan at the event.

From 10:30 there were supporters around the facilities and by 10:35 the area was packed. Chants like “Vamos, Sporting” and “A ganar mañana, Sporting” echoed around Mareo, alongside a banner reading “Actitud, ‘cojones’ y a ganar”. The morning had a special finish: players stayed to sign autographs, and in the final minutes the crowd sang standing “Yo te quiero, es un sentimiento que no puedo parar”.

On the pitch, Nicolás Larcamón and Javier Bergés ran the training. Gaspar Campos trained normally and is available for the derby. As for absences, Bruno Rubio worked apart with the rehab staff, while Konrad de la Fuente did not even go onto the grass; according to LA NUEVA ESPAÑA, he would miss several weeks due to knee discomfort.
