Sporting: Nacho Martín’s meniscus issue adds more absences

At Sporting Gijón, Nacho Martín is expected to be sidelined with a meniscus problem after not getting minutes in the derby. Sport reports that the club is approaching the situation carefully while awaiting the results of a knee MRI.

This week brings two more setbacks. Juan Otero has a small hamstring tear and could be out for at least a month. The striker, meanwhile, is limited by discomfort picked up in a derby collision with Aarón Escandell.

Alejo Sarco is also ruled out for the trip to El Molinón on Sunday due to lingering discomfort, with no exact return date yet. The derby also injured Nikita Iosifov: first tests suggest he could miss around a month, with later checks raising the possibility of up to six weeks out.

The list continues with Konrad de la Fuente, absent due to an edema in a previously operated knee cartilage, and with uncertainty over Andrés Ferrari, who is improving but not expected on the pitch in the coming weeks. On the plus side, Hugo Guillamón returned to training this week and is in the final stage of his rehabilitation.
