Suazo: “Barça are among the teams that play the best football” after Sevilla win

The FC Barcelona picked up three points at the Sánchez Pizjuán, beating Sevilla 1-3. The match, as both camps acknowledged, was tougher for the Catalans than the final score suggests, and Raphinha’s three goals ultimately decided it against a Sevilla side that fought hard trying to trouble Hansi Flick’s team.

Captain’s take on the game

Speaking on Movistar+, Sevilla captain Gabriel Suazo offered a clear read on what happened. “We knew we were up against a tremendous rival. For me, they’re one of the teams that play the best football,” he said, adding that Sevilla competed “really well” alongside their fans. Still, he pointed to what changed after the break: “In the second half we lacked a bit more energy to create any chances. We go away with our heads held high.”

Suazo also blamed the lack of intensity for the drop-off in attacking clarity. “We had been playing consecutive matches, and they had too. The second half was less intense for both sides… we didn’t have quite enough energy to have clarity up front.” He summed up the problem in one key detail: “We missed that pass we did find in the first half. We left everything on the pitch and that’s why we go away with good feelings,” he added.

Facing Yamal and top talent

Even after a demanding game where he tried to contain Lamine Yamal, Suazo praised the player’s level. He described Yamal as one of the best right now, and also underlined why Barça are so difficult to stop: “I had to face one of the best in the world, in a great moment—just like Raphinha. We tried to stop them, but they have many weapons from different sides and it’s not easy.”
