Thomas Tuchel: England can’t find another “Harry Kane”

England manager Thomas Tuchel made it clear it is “impossible” to find “another Harry Kane” as the Bayern Munich forward keeps rewriting the record books. Kane netted his record-extending 87th goal for the Three Lions against the Czech Republic on Tuesday, and is now two appearances away from matching Peter Shilton’s landmark of 125 international caps, moving towards becoming England’s most capped player.

Tuchel acknowledged there is no obvious successor and said England looks for different options. Against the Czech Republic, he finished the match with Jude Bellingham operating as a number nine after bringing him on for Kane.

The coach also described his evolving use of Bellingham as either a nine or a central 10. “I like him as a nine,” Tuchel said, arguing it helps overload opponents without upsetting balance. He stressed the next solution “won’t be Harry” or a copy of him, pointing instead to tactical flexibility, as reported by BBC Sport.
