Tonda Eckert to stay as Southampton boss after Spygate ban
Sky Sports: his six-week suspension is suspended until end of 2027/28, with a £28,000 fine
Tonda Eckert will keep his place as Southampton boss after being hit with a six-week ban for the ‘Spygate’ scandal. Sky Sports reports the punishment is suspended until the end of the 2027/28 season, along with a £28,000 fine.
Southampton had previously been expelled from the Championship play-offs in May after admitting “multiple breaches” involving unauthorised filming of opponents’ training. The club also had four points docked this term after admitting three breaches of EFL rules, following the snooping operation against Middlesbrough and two other sides.

Eckert accepted full responsibility and was charged by the FA over three breaches of Rule E3.1 tied to “misconduct”. After an FA hearing at the start of the international break, the German coach can remain in charge, including the trip hosting Portsmouth this Sunday and beyond.
