Trent Alexander-Arnold delivers as Tuchel finally shows trust

Trent Alexander-Arnold, the Real Madrid right-back and England international, returned to the starting XI in a Nations League camp under Thomas Tuchel with a moment that could change the narrative. In Prague, Alexander-Arnold was recalled for England after being overlooked for stretches, and he produced the assist that helped unlock República Checa.

The game had an immediate twist: Pavel Sulc was sent off after just 25 minutes for a reckless challenge on Elliot Anderson. Two minutes into the second half, Alexander-Arnold delivered. After a 70-yard run to create attacking options, he regained the ball when the move broke down and curled a teasing right-footed cross beyond three Czech defenders for Anthony Gordon to score with a stooping header.

Tuchel praised him on BBC Radio 5 Live: “He did very well… excellent assist… top attitude and one decisive action.” He added that a deeper role in the second half suited Alexander-Arnold more than the higher position earlier on. Gordon, who benefited from the pass, said he’d “been dying to play with him” for that bravery.
