Troy Deeney picks his Premier League Team of the Week

Deeney’s XI features Erling Haaland’s two goals vs Ipswich and Pedro Neto’s brace as Chelsea sealed it.

Troy Deeney, BBC pundit, has named his Premier League Team of the Week after the latest round, with Erling Haaland (Manchester City) starring for scoring two goals against Ipswich.

Deeney gives Bart Verbruggen (Brighton) the nod for a clean sheet, while Levi Colwill (Chelsea) makes the XI because Chelsea kept their first league clean sheet since January, with young goalkeeper Mike Penders stepping up.

In defence, he backs Gabriel (Arsenal) after a 1-0 win and includes Diogo Dalot (Manchester United) at left-back for an energetic performance in a scrappy game. Midfield and attack round out the choices with Sander Berge (Fulham) in a “six-pointer” vs Hull, Diego Gomez (Brighton) for scoring from halfway, and James Maddison (Tottenham) for his return in the final third.

Up top, Pedro Neto (Chelsea) gets in after a two-goal display, and Deeney also highlights Johan Manzambi (Aston Villa), praising his influence as a 21-year-old. Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler is picked as manager of the week after beating Arsenal and making smart tactical calls.
