City are appealing and continue to deny any wrongdoing, arguing they have a “comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence” that will clear their name.
The case is not new for the club: in 2014 City struck a settlement with UEFA involving a £49m fine (with £32m suspended). In 2020, UEFA found City guilty again over Financial Fair Play, fined €30m (reported as £25.4m) and banned them from European competition.
