Valencia and all their squads flirting with relegation, says MARCA

Valencia, along with much of its footballing structure, is going through a rough spell. According to MARCA, the club’s four “professional” sides across men’s and women’s football have got the season off to their worst start: between Valencia, Valencia Mestalla, Valencia Femenino and Valencia Femenino B, they have managed only one win so far.

A whole club in crisis

The paper’s assessment is straightforward: if the leagues were to end right now, all four teams would be in relegation positions. In the men’s first team, MARCA frames the situation around just four points from the 21 matches played in the period referenced. That poor run, the outlet adds, is dragging the reserve team too, which sits 14th in Group Three of the Second RFEF with one point.

Women’s teams also struggling

In the women’s competitions, the picture is not any better. MARCA says Valencia Femenino, after promotion, has suffered four straight defeats and are bottom of Liga F. The Valencia Femenino B side has also failed to gain traction, with one draw from three matches and sitting in the lower end of the table.

MARCA also argues this isn’t entirely new, though the scale this season is “especially significant.” It reminds readers that last term the women’s team fought right up until the final matchday to avoid dropping to a lower division, while in the Mestalla the club moved to sack Angulo over results. This season, the outlet adds, the first-team coach has already been dismissed, while the club continues to face financial strain and a reputational hit.

One win in 17

The most damning part of MARCA’s write-up is the overall tally: across those 17 games between all four teams, the only win came “by the minimum” for the first team in Vitoria last week. The rest, per MARCA, reads three draws and fourteen defeats—results and standing that the paper describes as sliding sharply.
