Valencia and Villarreal clash at Mestalla in the regional derby
Javier Aguirre’s Valencia aim for their first home win of the new era after recent league meetings were tight.
Valencia host Villarreal at Mestalla (18:30) in a regional derby where both sides want a statement: in the last four league meetings at the Valencia stadium, the record reads one Valencia win, two draws and one Villarreal victory, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.
Javier Aguirre’s team is coming off draws against Racing and Athletic and sit in the penultimate spot, so the clash is a chance to turn the moment around. They will be without Copete and Foulquier, both nearing the end of their respective recoveries, plus Sadiq, Canós and Diego López. For Iñigo Pérez’s Villarreal, the absences include Nicolas Pepe and Carlos Romero as they try to climb the table.
