Valladolid still looks for an exit for Marcos André

The Real Valladolid is still working to find a way out for Marcos André even though most transfer windows shut after the first couple of weeks of September. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, sporting director Víctor Orta admitted that there are still windows open where an operation could be completed, and that there’s a genuine option on the table for the Brazilian winger.

Real contact to leave

Orta said: “There are a couple of open markets and there’s a real contact for Marcos André,” and he also assessed the talks at “three or four out of 10.” As MARCA reports, that avenue would come from Saudi Arabia.

During the summer, Marcos André had offers from Mexico and Portugal, but none of them was sealed. In the Portuguese case, the move reportedly stalled at the signature stage.

Why other talks didn’t land

Orta also explained why an earlier attempt didn’t move forward: “With Estrela Amadora it was a matter of gross and net costs; we didn’t reach an agreement on which part of the player’s payroll they would cover.”

He then set expectations for the club’s next step: if the exit doesn’t happen, Valladolid will stick to “the same line” as the coach’s recent message. Orta stressed that the situation “won’t change” for the player in a 99% sense, referring to what the manager had said.

Elsewhere in the same briefing, Orta reviewed the summer market. He said the squad is stronger than last season’s while costing less, and he praised the ownership’s “cash injection,” noting that without it they would only have had “12 registered players.” He also pointed out what would have been a signing: the French striker Kévin Monzialo from Den Bosch, saying it was “inexplicable” that they didn’t accept the sale even after reaching the amounts requested.

Finally, Orta addressed the poor start (four points from 15) and called for self-criticism and some time, but insisted the response must come on Sunday in Ceuta, as he stated.
