Vanat scores for Girona… then heads off for 15 days
After breaking his scoring drought with Girona vs Cádiz, the Ukrainian will miss two home matches for international duty.
Girona took a breath with a 1-2 win away at Cádiz, and Vladyslav Vanat was at the heart of it. As MARCA reports, the Ukrainian striker ended a 202-day scoring drought by finding the net and scoring in his first-goal moment for the club in Segunda.
A goal, then a gap
However, the momentum won’t last. MARCA adds that Vanat will be away with his national team for 15 days, meaning he’ll miss Girona’s home games at Montilivi against Albacete and Mallorca—the first two fixtures in the immediate run.
The piece also frames his season as a challenge he chose to embrace: during the summer, Vanat apparently didn’t have full clarity about his future at Girona’s project, but ultimately accepted the role as the team’s main attacking reference in the push to return to LaLiga’s top division.
FIFA window hits Girona
With what MARCA calls the FIFA virus coming up, the club faces multiple international absences over the next two matches. In addition to Vanat, the outlet lists these players:
- Junior (Spain U-18)
- Asprilla (Colombia)
- Lass (Guinea)
- Krapyvtsov and Pyshchur (U-21)
On the domestic side, Quique Álvarez will have Abel Ruiz back after serving his suspension, and will monitor the recovery processes and fitness of Bryan Gil, Jastin and Unai.
