Vassilis Fotias will referee Spain vs Czech Republic in Oviedo
Spain play their Nations League third match this Saturday at the Nuevo Carlos Tartiere, with Angelos Evangelou in the VAR booth.
Spain already knows who will referee this coming Saturday’s Nations League clash against the Czech Republic at the Nuevo Carlos Tartiere in Oviedo: Vassilis Fotias, a 37-year-old Greek official.
Fotias, who has been a top-flight referee in Greece since 2018, is handling his fourth game this season. He has already officiated matches in the Europa and Champions League competitions, plus the first league round on September 10, between Slavia Prague and French side Lens.
As for Spain, he has no European track record involving Spanish teams up to now. With the Czech Republic, he also has no history with the national side; the only comparable reference is this season’s Champions League meeting involving Slavia Prague, which ended 2-3 to Lens. In the VAR room will be Angelos Evangelou.
