Víctor Mingo becomes the only available ‘9’ for Real Oviedo after injuries

Víctor Mingo is now the only available centre-forward at Real Oviedo after injuries to Carlos Fernández, Chris Ramos and Isfan. The striker had the chance to leave on loan in the summer, but his pre-season performances convinced coach Julián Calero and he stayed in the first-team.

From pre-season to setbacks

As MARCA reports, Mingo joined this summer from Arenteiro after scoring 12 goals in Primera RFEF. So far he has appeared in five matchdays and totals 82 minutes, always coming off the bench; his latest outing was the derby, where he came on in the 70th minute and teed up Enzo Pérez for the 2-0.

A chance vs Eldense

This Friday’s trip to Eldense could give him an opening that seemed unlikely just weeks ago. Calero also has Jacobo as an alternative up front, a solution he used after Chris’ injury in the derby. Meanwhile, the club is weighing whether to look at the free-agent market or ride out the period with their current options until players return or the winter window arrives.
