Viktor Gyökeres hits top form with Sweden and has Arsenal excited
The Swede scored 4 goals in 4 Nations League games and now eyes Premier League minutes, starting vs Leeds on Saturday.
Viktor Gyökeres (28) arrived at Arsenal in summer 2025 from Sporting CP for almost €70m, and the international break has brought his sharpness back: with Sweden, he netted four goals in four matches.
Despite that, his start in Premier League has been limited—just 29 minutes so far, with no starts and three games in which he didn’t play a single minute. Still, manager Graham Potter called him up for the Nations League, where he delivered. He scored in Sweden’s 2-1 win over Romania, in the 1-0 triumph vs Poland, again found the net in the 1-1 draw with Bosnia, and completed a fourth consecutive scoring game against Romania in a 0-1 victory.
That run made him the first player ever to score in seven straight UEFA Nations League matches. Back at Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta and Kai Havertz leading the line right now, the message is clear: if Gyökeres is at his best, there’s a good chance to start this Saturday against Leeds at the Emirates.
