Vincent Kompany is a doubt for Bayern vs Arsenal after legs virus
Kompany is dealing with a virus affecting his legs and may miss Wednesday’s Champions League match at the Allianz Arena vs Arsenal.
Vincent Kompany, Bayern Munich’s manager, is a doubt for Wednesday’s Champions League tie against Arsenal at the Allianz Arena after battling a virus that has affected his legs. He missed Tuesday’s training session and handed pre-match media duties to his assistant, Aaron Danks.
After Bayern’s 6-1 home win over RB Leipzig on Saturday, Kompany was told to rest. Max Eberl spoke to the media in his place, and reports in Germany suggested the infection aggravated an existing hip issue that left Kompany struggling to walk. Danks confirmed, “It has affected his legs at times.”
Backup plan
If Kompany can’t make it, Danks will take charge vs Arsenal. He has already done so last season: during the Champions League semi-final first leg against Paris Saint-Germain, Kompany was suspended. PSG won 5-4 at Parc des Princes and advanced 6-5 on aggregate, before beating Arsenal on penalties in the final.
