Vinícius asks for referee protection: “I get booked”

Vinícius Júnior, of Real Madrid, questioned referee protection and called for measures for standout players. He said: “Defenders can KICK ME during an entire match, yet I am the one who gets booked”, complaining that the contact comes from defenders while cards fall on him.

His complaint and request

He added that, in his view, “we need to protect players who make a difference like me, Lamine Yamal and Julián Álvarez”. With that point, Vinícius ties his remarks to both Lamine Yamal and Julián Álvarez, asking for a more consistent approach from officials in tight games.
