Vinicius Jr. and Real Madrid: suspension to be decided on Thursday

The Disciplinary Committee won’t issue a ruling until Thursday after Vinicius’ red vs Villarreal; clubs have until Wednesday 14:00 to submit allegations.

Real Madrid won’t learn Vinicius Júnior’s sanction until Thursday. The Brazilian was sent off last Saturday against Villarreal, with Isidro Díaz de Mera Escuderos as the referee.

As Mundo Deportivo notes, sanctions are usually announced on Wednesday, but this one is delayed 24 hours due to the right to be heard in article 24 of the Disciplinary Code. Allegations must reach the disciplinary body’s office by 14:00 on the second official business day after the match. With Monday a public holiday for Spain’s National Day and Sunday not counted as a business day, the deadline lands on Wednesday.

Thursday will also bring the decision on the suspension of Rayo Vallecano-Athletic Club. For the Real Madrid case, the referee’s report says that after being shown the red, Vinicius kept protesting at full volume and with an aggressive attitude, which could raise the punishment above the minimum.
