Werder rack up 9 points in six games, but their defense still leaks

SV Werder Bremen’s start has landed it 9 points from six games, with a 12:12 goals record. As noted by kicker, the output is “okay”, but what stands out is the way they play: concept, energy and plenty of running.

The flip side is that, so far, that approach is still costing the team defensively. With goals so evenly split, Werder are still paying a price for their attacking rhythm when the ball goes the other way.
