Wilson, Broadhead and Darlow ruled out of Wales squad

Wales go into the Nations League A step up hit by injuries, with Harry Wilson, Nathan Broadhead and Karl Darlow all withdrawing from Craig Bellamy’s squad, according to BBC Sport.

The Leeds midfielder was a doubt with a quad problem, while Broadhead, who plays for Wrexham, is also missing out because of a thigh issue. In goal, Darlow—despite debuting for Manchester United in the EFL Cup last week and being named among the substitutes for the Premier League draw with Fulham—will not be available.

Replacements added

To cover the absences, Wales have called up Leicester City goalkeeper David Cornell, Huddersfield Town forward Joe Taylor and Reading midfielder Charlie Savage. Both Cornell and Taylor are uncapped, while Savage has already made international appearances.

Nations League fixtures

Bellamy’s Wales begin their Nations League A campaign with Portugal in Lisbon on Thursday, before taking on Denmark in Copenhagen next Sunday. They then host Norway in Cardiff on Thursday, 1 October, and Denmark visit three days later, BBC Sport reports.

Wales were already without key defenders Joe Rodon and Dylan Lawlor, and Cardiff City duo Rubin Colwill and Isaak Davies are also unavailable. Cornell, 35, signed a one-year deal with Leicester last Friday after leaving Preston North End in the summer as a free agent, as noted by BBC Sport.
