Xavier García Pimienta warns: Mallorca are «top tier»

Xavier García Pimienta, Almería’s coach, made it clear this Friday that Mallorca are “clearly” a top-tier side ahead of Sunday’s match at Son Moix.

He pointed to the quality of their squad and said Luis García “knows perfectly what he wants to do”, adding that the team is heading upward. García Pimienta also asked his players to stay consistent and sturdy: “if we have to defend together… we’ll have to do it”, and to adapt their game plan depending on how the match unfolds.

He believes Mallorca’s individual talent can decide games even when they’re not at their best. He cited what happened last week against Real Sociedad, when Adrián Fuentes scored in the 80th minute with a moment of individual brilliance. “We’ll go to Son Moix… with the personality needed,” he said, stressing that their mindset must be to win.
