Yago de Santiago trains with Elche group as he targets Villarreal
The Galician winger trained with his teammates despite a knee bandage, with Elche set to host Villarreal next Saturday.
Yago de Santiago, Elche’s winger, was the standout name during this Wednesday’s session as the team began preparing for next Saturday’s match against Villarreal, with no absences in the squad, even though he wore a knee bandage.
The Galician joined the group work at Martínez Valero, so a return to the matchday squad looks close. He underwent surgery again last spring on a knee that had been injured a year earlier, and he had not played any official match this season so far. "I had a cruciate ligament rupture when I was 15 and Villarreal gave me all the facilities to recover," he said.
Buba Sangaré also trained normally after missing the last league match with a muscular injury before the competition break. Coach Martín Anselmi can also call on Fede Redondo again, having served a one-match ban against Celta.
