Yan Diomandé scores his first Champions League goal in 4-1 vs Leipzig
The Real Madrid winger netted the 87th-minute 4-1 volley on Wednesday, with the Clásico at Camp Nou next.
Real Madrid beat RB Leipzig 4-1 on Wednesday, and Yan Diomandé capped it with a spectacular volley in the 87th minute for his first-ever Champions League goal.
Set up by Brahim Díaz, the Ivorian winger struck with his right foot to beat Maarten Vandevoordt. Signed this summer for 125 million euros, Diomandé was facing his former club: he spent one season at Leipzig before joining Los Blancos.
Heading into the Clásico
Diomandé started on the bench and was introduced in the 70th minute by José Mourinho, replacing Vinícius. His strike was his third goal of the season, after breaking his duck on October 10 with Real Madrid. Kylian Mbappé had made it 3-1 in the 83rd minute. As RMC Sport notes, Real Madrid now turn to the Clásico at Camp Nou this Sunday (21:00), while in LaLiga they sit six points behind Barcelona after nine league games.
