Yangel Herrera (Real Sociedad) gets calf overload
Matarazzo left Yangel Herrera out for the Málaga trip after calf discomfort; Real Sociedad hopes he’ll be ready for Norway vs Lillestrøm.
Yangel Herrera, the Real Sociedad midfielder, was taken off at half-time in Den Dreef after calf discomfort. As Matarazzo said in his press conference, the Venezuelan wasn’t at 100%, which is why he was withdrawn and later left out of the squad for the Málaga trip.
Inside the club, the message is that it doesn’t look serious: Herrera is dealing with a muscle overload. The decision, they add, was made with strict caution to stop the issue escalating.
Given the muscle problems he had last season, Real Sociedad want to avoid overloading him at La Rosaleda. If the recovery goes as planned, the coaching staff believe he can be available at full capacity for next Thursday’s key game in Norway against Lillestrøm.
