Yuri Berchiche misses Lezama training for second day

Athletic carried out a second training session of an unusual week at Lezama, with no league matches due to the international break. On pitch 5, Yuri Berchiche again did not join the group session, extending his absence to a second straight day.

The concern traces back to the Saturday match against Alavés, when Terzic said in his post-game press conference that the player finished touched in the left groin after running along the wing. The report also highlights another fitness concern: Gorka Guruzeta did not train and was unable to make the squad for the game against Alavés due to muscle discomfort stemming from the injury that kept him out versus Elche.

On a more positive note, Peio Canales has rejoined training with the group, and several others—Iñaki Ugalde, Galarreta, Canales, Berenguer and Maroan—have taken part again after not working outside yesterday. Dani Vivian continued with the full group, and the central defender recovering from a prior injury is now set to “work his own pre-season” to regain sharpness, as described by Mundo Deportivo.
