Zachary Athekame, AC Milan-owned right-back on loan, will finish the season at Olympique Lyonnais despite interest from the Italians in bringing him back as early as the winter transfer window, according to RMC Sport.
The Swiss international, with four caps, has quickly become a key part of Lyon’s defence. He has already played nine matches this season, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
Even though Italian media pointed to an early recall, the loan to Lyon was agreed without an option to buy. As it stands, Athekame feels good in Lyon and the loan won’t be cut short.
