Zubeldia absent from Real’s last training before break
Real Sociedad head off for six days after beating Valencia; Zubeldia missed the final session and Odriozola remains injured.
Real Sociedad wrapped up the first block of the season with a post-match session at Zubieta and then headed for six days off. After beating Valencia on Sunday, the squad returned home overnight, which meant that the nine internationals were not part of the final training: Aramburu, Jon Martín, Óskarsson, Oyarzabal, Ochieng, Kubo, Sarr, Yangel and Sucic.
Break and next steps
As Mundo Deportivo reports, the main absence was Zubeldia, who did not join the session nor the squad list. Even so, the paper notes he had been training for several days with the rest, so the downtime should help him recover fully and be ready for Deportivo on the 11th.
The rest of the work followed the usual pattern. The non-international starters did recovery, while the substitutes went hard on the pitch during the compensatory phase. Training on the grass included Remiro, Marrero, Fraga, Aihen, Barrenetxea, Turrientes, Marín, Pacheco, Fort, Zakharyan and Marchal.
Injuries and return
Alongside Zubeldia, Odriozola was also missing due to an injury, according to Mundo Deportivo. And the break is even longer for Óskarsson: the outlet cites an expulsion for talking and a ban for the Deportivo game.
The team is expected back on Monday the 28th, likely in the afternoon. The first focus is getting ready for the Euskal Herria Txapela final on Friday the 2nd of October against Athletic at Anoeta. League action resumes on the 11th, with Deportivo, as the international players return gradually from day 5.
