A.GAIN requests an extension to finalize Real Zaragoza deal

The takeover of Real Zaragoza by A.GAIN is still not fully finalized at an official level. According to Sport, the investment group has requested an extension to make the purchase effective, after the original deadline was due to expire last September 15.

The outlet adds that the delay was already included in the agreement as a possible option. Sources consulted by Sport say there is no underlying problem; the postponement would be linked to bureaucratic paperwork, with August described as practically inactive for this type of procedure.

The deal still needs paperwork

This update ties in with what the club announced on July 14. Back then, Real Zaragoza said that Real Z LLC had reached an agreement with A.GAIN, a platform supported by IDC Network, for the group to enter as the club’s majority shareholder. As part of that deal, the club stated that A.GAIN takes over club management from that day, working in coordination with the current structure to maintain institutional stability and the sporting project’s continuity, as reported by the club’s own release.

Sport also notes that the arrival of the new owner implies further changes within the organization. The club still awaits the appointment of a president to replace Jorge Mas, who would step down from the top role to remain as a board member. A key milestone is a special general meeting expected in October, where many directors’ mandates would be decided.

That meeting would include approval of a 22-million-euro capital increase, taking the club’s total above 71 million. As a result, A.GAIN’s stake—after joining in July—would drop from 75% to 60% while keeping majority status. In the meantime, Sport reports that Bobby Aitkenhead, A.GAIN’s CEO and future top shareholder, attended Sunday’s match at the Ibercaja Stadium against Cartagena for the first time.
