Borja Jiménez is now Cádiz’s new head coach after the club reached an agreement to replace Albert Celades. The 41-year-old will arrive this Friday to run his first training session at 16:30 at the club’s Ciudad Deportiva and will be presented on Saturday at 13:30 in the JP Financial Estadio press room.

The move continues a season marked by rapid changes: it’s the third managerial switch, after Imanol Idiakez was sacked four days before the league started and Celades was dismissed following ten matchdays. Cádiz currently need to climb out of the relegation zone after collecting 7 points from a possible 30 so far.

First test vs Ceuta

As reported by MARCA, Jiménez has remained involved during the week even while still tied to Al-Ahli in Qatar, until Thursday. He stayed in contact with the coaching staff and worked connected during sessions, while Mario Fuentes led training. His first game as coach will come on Sunday against Ceuta, a clash between teams placed in the relegation positions.
