Real Madrid’s frustration grows after Villarreal: Díaz de Mera and Vinicius red
OK Diario reports the club believes Vinicius’s account about the hair tug, while they stress the gap in refereeing criteria.
Real Madrid is growing increasingly unhappy with the referees after their match against Villarreal, pointing to the performance of Díaz de Mera and his assistants. The anger in both the dressing room and the club’s top tier is driven not only by the red card shown to Vinícius Júnior, but also by other decisions during the game—especially how some fouls were called.
The Brazilian’s version
According to OK Diario, the club backs Vinícius’s explanation: the action was not intentional, but simply an awkward tug. That account has also gained traction on Madridista social media pages.
Complaint: inconsistent criteria
Inside the dressing room they struggle to understand the criteria mismatch. They cite a derby in which Kang-In Lee and “Cuti” Romero were not sent off, while Vinícius was. The Real Madrid camp also considers Vinícius ruled out for the Clásico.
