Frenkie de Jong returns to Barcelona group training, still not ready
The midfielder rejoined team sessions after a right-knee ligament injury, following nearly four months out.
Frenkie de Jong of FC Barcelona is back working with the group: on Tuesday he rejoined collective training after being sidelined with an injury to the medial collateral ligament of his right knee. He picked up the problem at the 2026 World Cup and recovered with conservative treatment, without going under the knife.
He did individual work on Monday, but his progress allowed him to take the next step in training with the rest of the squad. Even so, the club wants to avoid any risk and a return to competition isn’t confirmed yet—after almost four months out, Barcelona will manage the timeline carefully.
In the same session, Karim Adeyemi returned after playing for Germany (80 minutes vs the Netherlands in a 1-1 draw and 76 vs Greece). Raphinha continues working apart due to right-thigh discomfort, while Joan García remains in recovery from right-knee swelling and pain, with hopes he could be available for LaLiga’s restart depending on how he progresses.
