Málaga return in focus: Adam Aznou and Fernando Calero eye Espanyol
Málaga head back to action on 9 October (21:00) at La Rosaleda after a two-week break, with two summer signings back in contention.
Málaga will resume training this Monday and turn its focus immediately to their first league game after a two-week LaLiga shutdown: they face Espanyol at La Rosaleda on 9 October at 21:00, according to Sport.
Juanfran Funes has had time to work with the squad after an uneven start across the first seven matchdays, leaving the club second from bottom on three points (three draws and four defeats) when the break arrived.
Fresh options return
For the Espanyol game, Adam Aznou and Fernando Calero—two of the summer signings—are back from their injuries and are expected to be in the matchday squad, with a chance to play.
Jens Cajuste is still recovering from a muscular injury, while Murillo, Ochoa and Lobete remain sidelined.
Side-back concerns ahead
Rafita and Chupe have been called up to the Under-21s. They will play on Tuesday versus Romania in Ibiza and return to Málaga on Wednesday, two days before kick-off. José Salinas is also unavailable due to the “fear clause”, which makes Aznou’s return more important.
