Rayo Vallecano–Elche flagged as high-risk clash after Vallecas incidents
Antiviolence labels Saturday’s 14:00 match as high risk after Rayo’s previous home game was halted for objects thrown.
Spain’s state commission on violence has classified Rayo Vallecano–Elche as a high-risk fixture this Saturday at Vallecas (14:00). The decision follows the suspension of the Rayo’s previous home match due to objects being thrown.
As the Interior Ministry stated this Friday in a release, the measure is taken because there is a chance that Rayo’s supporters could stage further protests against club president Raúl Martín Presa, as they did against Athletic on the 10th.
The match that was stopped came at the 24th minute, with the score at 0-0, after paper airplanes and small rubber balls were thrown onto the pitch. The high-risk ruling means a bigger police presence and stronger stadium checks, plus compensation for season-ticket holders through a proportional refund.
