Vicky López ruled out of Spain duty as Alba Redondo steps in
The Barcelona forward misses the 10 and 13 October friendlies vs the USA; Alba Redondo is called up to replace her.
Vicky López, of FC Barcelona, has been ruled out of the Spain squad and will not play the friendlies against the United States on 10 and 13 October. Mundo Deportivo reports that Sonia Bermúdez has turned to Alba Redondo, from Juventus, as her replacement.
The Barcelona forward had already raised doubts on Friday when she stayed in the gym and didn’t join the rest of her teammates on the training pitch ahead of the women’s Clásico versus Real Madrid. The physical problem finally prevents her from joining up with the national team.
Redondo, who had missed out on the first list, will join the other 24 players called up on next Monday 5 October at 19:00 in Las Rozas at the Ciudad del Fútbol. Spain will train on Tuesday with open doors before heading to the USA, starting in Washington on the 10th and finishing in Philadelphia on the 13th.
At Juventus, Redondo arrives in form: seven goals so far this season, 788 minutes across three competitions, plus a Coppa della Liga title in her haul.
